Memphis Moves Me, A GCA Flower Show
More Info about Division 5: Education | Birds of a Feather Move Together
The night sky is an amazing part of our environment shared by both people and wildlife. Night lighting is important for our safety and security, and nighttime is important for the natural rhythms of all living things, especially for the billions of birds that rely on it to effectively navigate their nighttime migrations.
Nearly half of all birds that migrate use the Mississippi Flyway, and some 40% of all waterfowl use it. One estimate suggests that 326 species use the Flyway. Our Division V Exhibit detailed what light pollution is, how it affects bird migration, and solutions that can be implemented at home and in our communities.
Below is additional information and websites that offer information and an even deeper dive into this important topic.
